Brief
Connect remote site via wireless bridge where copper or fibre run not possible. Approximately 100m distance between remote site and connection to main LAN.
Solution
802.11g Access Points (AP) purchased along with high gain patch antennas for each end of the installation. These would form the point-to-point bridge between the sites once mounted. Security was configured across the bridge. Once installed there were issues regarding persistent connection drop out. The figure below shows some of the diagnostic steps taken to locate the fault.
Resolution
I tracked the problem down to a faulting feature of the APs and reported this on to the equipment manufacturer. Once the feature was disabled the remote site was able to communicate with the main LAN successfully.
