Profile

In 2011 I graduated from Staffordshire University with a First Class Honours Degree in Network Engineering. This gives me the BEng(HONS) designation as well as allowing me to join the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) as a full member (MIET).

I specialise in computer network, operating system and server technologies including  IIS, AD and Exchange. I have experience working with copper, fibre optic and wireless network hardware from manufacturers such as Cisco, Dell, Netgear and Sonicwall. My university course focussed on modern LAN, WAN and WLAN design, implementation and optimisation. This covered other network technologies such as ADSL, GSM, UMTS and signal processing. To supplement the highly technical modules, business operations management and engineering mathematics were also studied. Outside of University, I have built up further skills using ASP, PHP, Apache and MySQL.

Completing an engineering degree allowed me to study business management and obtain a firm understanding of ethical, sustainability and environmental considerations within industry. This is something I feel provides an advantage over a computing based path and helps to deeply integrate my working into the ethos of any business.

Experience

I have a vast knowledge of Windows and Windows Server operating systems including experience using Linux and Unix based systems, such as Mac OS X. This includes corporate Group Policy and centralised system management set-up as well as being highly experienced in desktop, server and network maintenance. This has often involved supporting legacy systems and developing update and migration strategy  to improve upon security, reliability and standards compliance.

A selection of modules completed as part of my University degree include Advanced Switching, Advanced Wireless Networking, Introduction to IP Telephony, Engineering Mathematics Applications, Personal Broadband Networks, Environmental Impact and Management in Organisations amongst many others.

  • LAN, WAN And WLAN troubleshooting, configuration and optimisation.
